Rate Drop Response
Rate Drop Response detects vasovagal or carotid sinus syndrome syncope episodes with a prominent
cardioinhibitory component. This flexible recognition algorithm may help to alleviate symptoms in your
patients and prevent their syncope altogether.
How It Works
- The G-series pacemaker detects abrupt cardiac slowing, based on a programmable range for a
specified number of beats.
- The pacemaker responds with high-rate pacing at a programmed intervention rate. This may reduce
the frequency of syncopal episodes. The intervention rate is slowly decreased until the patient's
heart rate recovers.
- When three consecutive atrial events are sensed, the G-series pacemaker recognizes that the
patient has recovered and the risk of fainting has subsided. It returns to its normal function. This
recovery search is also a programmable option.
